A module is essentially a folder with files that adds functionality to BiblePlayer. Because of the iPod's 1000 Note file limitation, you can not use all the BiblePlayer modules at once. Rather you need to install only the modules you want to use. The process of installing and removing individual modules is straightforward. You simply drag and drop the module you want in the appropriate folder in iPod's Notes folder.
Some modules use more files than others. For example, the 'Morning and Evening' devotional uses over 700 files. That is 70% of the space available. In this case you would need to remove other modules such as the folders inside the Bible folder. Refer to the file count list for an overview of the number of files each module uses. Also refer to the module combinations section for ideas on customizing BiblePlayer.
What happens if you install too many modules and go over the 1000 file limit? If your iPod starts to emit smoke and a strange smell, immediately turn it off! (Its a joke, smile). Actually what happens is the iPod will display the menu items but they will be empty when selected. If this happens, you know for a fact you installed too many modules. Again, the file count list is a good planning tool.
The default installation includes these modules
NT Bible (with Psalms and Proverbs)
Faith's Checkbook
NT Only Reading Plan
God's Promises
Daily Proverbs
Example 1: Installing individual Bible books
This example shows how to install individual Bible books. Drag the books you want into the Old or New Testament folder on the iPod.This is necessary because the 1000 file limit does not allow the entire Bible to be installed. This is also necessary if you use a reading plan that includes books from both Testaments.
Example 2: Installing the Daily Proverbs module
Example 3: Installing the Bible Promises module
Example 4: Installing a devotional module
As we can see in this screenshot, installing the 'morning and evening' module is a simple matter of dragging it from the 'modules > devotionals' folder into 'Notes > devotionals'. We then delete the 'faith's-checkbook' folder to make room for it. Remember, because this particular module uses over 700 files, we also have to remove other folders to make space for it. For example, we should delete the 'ot' or 'nt' from the bible folder.
Example 5: Installing a reading plan module
Just as in the other examples, to install a new reading plan we drag it from the modules folder into the iPod's Notes > bible-in-year folder. Then we delete the other plan. Actually in this example, the 'start-to-finish' module uses only 14 files so removing the other plan is not necessary.
Remember: If you "mess things up", you can always restore the default installation
Occassionally, you may make a mistake and delete the wrong folders in BiblePlayer Deluxe. If this happens, re-install and try again. Just delete everything within the Notes folder and install Deluxe as described in the Installing Program section.
Conclusion
In this section you learned how to customize BiblePlayer to include other modules. Refer to the file count list to plan the modules you want to include. In the future, more modules will be available. It is hoped Apple will remove this 1000 Note file limitation in future versions of the iPod software or hardware.
